A little "hot off the press" data on the CONMED Orthopedics Biobrace collagen+PLLA implant. A few days ago I augmented an autologous hamstring anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with the Biobrace implant and had some other indications to do PRP as well. We decided to see how much PRP (or really any fluid) the Biobrace would absorb before saturation.
The answer? 342% of its weight!
The best part is that it was still suturable in the OR and added a third strand to the autologous hamstring...increasing graft diameter by 1mm - 1.5mm!
