Colleyville patients often come to us with advanced knee arthritis or a rotator cuff tear, and want to know if there is anything to try before surgery. Others want to understand how a bone marrow draw for BMAC (stem cells) actually works.

PRP or BMAC (stem cells)?

Why Colleyville patients make the drive

  • One doctor does your injection. Dr. Buford gives every injection himself. It is never handed off to someone else.
  • Ultrasound guidance every time. He watches the needle reach the exact spot on a screen, in real time.
  • We measure your dose. Many clinics never tell you how many platelets or cells are in your shot. We measure it and show you.
  • Most patients need one injection. More than 90% of our procedures need only one injection (Texas Orthobiologics registry data 2022-2026).
  • A teacher of other doctors. Since 2008, Dr. Buford has directed the Las Vegas Regenerative Medicine and MSK Ultrasound Course, where more than 2,500 clinicians have trained. He is Chairman of the Biologic Association for 2026-2027, a past president of the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation, and founding editor of the Biologic Orthopedics Journal.
  • A former pro athlete. Before medicine, he played four seasons of professional baseball in the Baltimore Orioles organization. He is a Stanford graduate and a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.

Common questions from Colleyville patients

How far is Texas Orthobiologics from Colleyville?

About 29 miles from Colleyville City Hall. It takes about 36 minutes with light traffic on TX-114 and I-35E.

Do you have an office in Colleyville?

No. We have one office, at 3310 Live Oak Street in Dallas. Patients come to us from Colleyville, Southlake, Grapevine, Keller and the rest of the area.

How much is a PRP or stem cell injection for Colleyville patients?

At Texas Orthobiologics, the investment for PRP starts at $1,500, and BMAC (stem cells) starts at $5,000. Your exact investment depends on your condition and how many areas we treat. You will know it before you commit, and CareCredit offers financing plans up to twelve months.

Is PRP an option for advanced, bone-on-bone knee arthritis?

Sometimes. Advanced arthritis is harder to treat with an injection. Dr. Buford looks at your X-rays and will tell you plainly whether an injection is worth trying, or whether a knee replacement is the better choice.

How is bone marrow taken for BMAC (stem cells)?

Dr. Buford numbs the back of your hip bone first. Then he uses ultrasound to guide a small needle and draw a little bone marrow. It is concentrated during the same visit and injected where you need it.

Can PRP or stem cells help a rotator cuff tear?

For some partial rotator cuff tears and tendon problems, PRP or BMAC (stem cells) is an option. A large or full tear may need surgery. Dr. Buford is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who does both, so he can tell you which path fits your shoulder.

Is the procedure done the same day?

Yes. All of our procedures use your own blood or bone marrow and are done the same day in our Dallas office. You do not need to come back for a separate injection visit.

Does insurance cover PRP or BMAC (stem cells)?

Most orthobiologic procedures are not covered by insurance. You may be able to use an HSA or FSA account, and CareCredit offers financing plans up to twelve months. We accept most insurance plans, including Medicare and Tricare, and our office will check your coverage before your visit.
