The physician
Don Buford, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who has spent two decades teaching orthobiologics to other physicians. He serves as Chairman of the Biologic Association for 2026–2027, and is a past president of the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation, where he served two terms and still sits on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. He is in his fourth year on the Board of Directors of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and is founding editor of the Biologic Orthopedics Journal.
Since 2008 he has directed the Las Vegas Regenerative Medicine and MSK Ultrasound Course, one of the longest-running courses in the field, where more than 2,500 clinicians have trained.

Common questions
I am flying in. Can the evaluation and treatment happen the same day?
Often, yes. We are able to perform same-day procedures, so where the evaluation confirms you are a candidate and you want to proceed, treatment can follow in the same visit. Bone marrow aspirate concentrate is drawn and concentrated during that visit, so BMAC suits a single trip particularly well. A few conditions still need the evaluation to settle the plan first. Our office can help you obtain your prior images before you book travel, so you get a straight answer in advance.
How much does a stem cell injection cost?
Bone marrow aspirate concentrate runs $5,000 to $13,000 nationally, varying with how many joints are treated and the complexity of the case. High-dose PRP runs $1,500 to $3,500. These are national ranges rather than a quote for your treatment; your investment is confirmed in writing at the consultation. CareCredit offers interest-free terms of six to eighteen months.
Do you use amniotic or exosome products?
No. Amniotic fluid, Wharton's jelly and exosome products are considered unapproved drugs by the FDA and are not approved for any treatment indication, and there is a significant lack of published human outcomes data in orthopedics compared with PRP and BMAC. This practice uses only products with a clear regulatory pathway and clear human outcomes data, a standard that also explains why MACI and Agili-C are offered.
