Don Buford, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who has spent two decades teaching orthobiologics to other physicians. He serves as Chairman of the Biologic Association for 2026–2027, and is a past president of the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation, where he served two terms and still sits on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. He is in his fourth year on the Board of Directors of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and is founding editor of the Biologic Orthopedics Journal.
Since 2008 he has directed the Las Vegas Regenerative Medicine and MSK Ultrasound Course, one of the longest-running courses in the field, where more than 2,500 clinicians have trained.

How many trips to Dallas will this take?
Two is the usual pattern, not a rule. We are able to perform same-day procedures, so if the evaluation confirms you are a candidate and you want to go ahead, treatment can follow in the same visit. Otherwise most patients make two trips, the evaluation and the treatment. Having your prior imaging in hand beforehand is what makes a single visit realistic, and our office can help you get it.
How much does a stem cell injection cost?
Bone marrow aspirate concentrate runs $5,000 to $13,000 nationally, varying with the number of joints treated and the complexity of the case. That is a national range rather than a quote for your treatment; your own investment is confirmed in writing at the consultation. CareCredit offers interest-free options over six to eighteen months.
What if I am not a candidate?
You will be told so directly, at the first visit. Advanced arthritis with bone-on-bone change, for instance, does not respond to an injection the way earlier-stage disease can, and offering one anyway would waste your money. Dr. Buford is a practising orthopedic surgeon, so the conversation includes the options he does not perform himself, with a referral to the right surgeon.
