Do you treat avascular necrosis of the hip?
Yes. Avascular necrosis means part of the hip bone is losing its blood supply. Dr. Buford is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and looks at your MRI to see how far along it is. In some cases he does a core decompression and adds your own bone marrow cells.
Can PRP or BMAC (stem cells) help wrist pain?
For some wrist problems, yes. Dr. Buford uses ultrasound to see exactly which part of the wrist is hurting before he suggests an injection, because the wrist has many small parts close together.
Should I get PRP or stem cells for knee arthritis?
It depends on how much wear is in the joint, your age, your activity and your goals. Dr. Buford looks at your X-rays or MRI and examines the knee with ultrasound. Then he explains which option fits you, or whether neither one does.
Who gives the injection?
Dr. Buford does, every time, using ultrasound to guide the needle. It is not handed off to a nurse or another provider.
How long is the first visit?
New patient visits often run past 45 minutes. We go over your imaging, examine the area with ultrasound and talk through your options in detail, so please don't rush it.
