There is growing evidence that Platelet rich plasma (PRP) can help reduce retear rates in rotator cuff surgery!
This just published paper reviewed 10 separate level 1 RCTs.
The authors also found that platelet rich fibrin (PRF) did NOT reduce retear rates....so we should be using PRP at this point based on this review.
To get the best results....I also often add a Biobrace implant which is an absorbable collagen + PLLA implant that is suturable and adds strength immediately to the repair...and like magic goes away over a couple years!
