The Dallas PRP and Stem Cell Center has now enrolled 16 patients in a study to determine if an office based bone marrow derived stem cell injection can help a partial thickness rotator cuff tendon heal. The study is expected to enroll a total of 25 patients who will be followed for 1 year after the stem cell treatment.

I tell all patients that the easiest thing to remember is that for an orthopedic stem cell procedure to be legal, verifiable, and to have published human clinical outcomes for the condition being treated…..the stem cells HAVE to come from their own bone marrow.

I had yet another conversation with a neuromonitoring company recently. The explosion of these companies is not tied to their medical necessity but rather financial gain and greed. The chance of a nerve injury in a shoulder, knee, or hip arthroscopy is 0.01% to 0.03% (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19620828) and yet there are salespeople that approach me nearly every week to monitor my cases for this 1 in 10,000 occurrence!
74 and my new favorite patient….just in today and I was hoping she had done well after hip and knee BMC injections. She one upped me and brought in the video below. Most start to notice a benefit by 6 weeks ….although we have had patients who reported feeling better even sooner.
